ZAQA joined Zambia and the rest of the world in commemorating International Women’s Day, under the theme: Think Equal, Build Smart and Innovate for Change. The theme resonated well with Zambia’s development agenda in areas of economic and social development as it is in line with the 7th National Development Plan, especially as it relates to Pillar, “Reducing Developmental Inequalities” and the principle of “Leaving No One Behind” in our quest to achieve the Vision 2030.
The ZAQA Staff participated in a march past at the Lusaka Show Grounds, where his Excellency President Edgar Lungu officiated. He emphasised that the Zambian Government will continue to promote and support girl-child education with special focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. This would be done in order to take advantage of the women and girls’ ideas and influence in the design and implementation of innovations which will shape the future of our country.
In his concluding remarks, he congratulated the women and men of Zambia for remaining resilient and believing in the just cause for gender equality. The President remains confident that one day, gender equality will be a reality in all spheres of life in Zambia.
